b) NEW! "WRITE YOUR DARN SCREENPLAY!" 8-WEEK CLASS

It's time to GET WRITING. This is a class for serious writers (well, you can have a sense of humor) who are seriously interested in getting their feature screenplay written -- or rewritten well. Many writers struggle with motivation: this class will keep you on track -- think of it as a FILM COACH -- to make sure you are getting that draft DONE! But it is more than that: class size is VERY limited to allow for intimate group feedback, and we will be workshopping scenes and addressing various writing topics. This class is also suited for people in the re-write process.

• Pre-requisite: Screenwriting 101: The Basics or suitable experience.
• Commitment: A minimum of 5 hours per week of writing time, an hour a workday is fine. A minimum of 2 hours to devote to homework. More time is great.
• You may begin a new screenplay or work on an existing one of yours.
• Each week we will cover different topics. The topics may shift according to flow of class and needs of writers. Sample topics include: The Treatment, The Step-Outline, Dialog, Pacing, Character Development, Mythic Structure.
• Every week you will be working on your screenplay.
• Every week I will address formatting issues you may have, as they come up, for instance the proper ways to deal with intercutting, how to handle subtitles, etc.
• We will be workshopping scenes in class.
• You will be responsible for homework assignments and readings.
• As part of your homework, you will provide feedback and critique of colleagues’ work -- this is an invaluable learning tool as well.
• NOTES: Class size is limited to 8. You must demonstrate a solid understanding of screenplay writing, both in form and content, to be accepted into the workshop. Harriette is available for extra consulting for those who need extra help -- this is an add-on, you are expected to be able to write well enough to embark on this journey together. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WRITE THAT DARN SCREENPLAY!

WORKSHOP: 8-WEEK WRITE YOUR DARN SCREENPLAY!
DATES: SATURDAYS, APRIL 3-MAY 22 TIME: 11-2:30. We will take a 2-week break and meet for optional follow-up.
TUITION:
$800.00 plus purchasing THE SCREENWRITER'S BIBLE by TROTTIER and $30.00 MATERIALS FEE.***
LOCATION:
Yahr's Home Office near Miami Shores. CLASS SIZE LIMITED TO 8. $75.00 REQUIRED TO RESERVE SPOT. Fee for Paypal.
(NOTE: Please let me know if you would rather meet one WEEKNIGHT instead of over the weekend. I want to assess if that works as well.)

*** Harriette will be giving you individual ongoing feedback, devoting a set-amount of time to read your screenplays each week. This is reflected in the course price. If you do NOT want any feedback, we can discuss a reduced fee. NOTE: Harriette will not write your screenplays for you. If you need extra guidance and consulting you can work that out with her for a reasonable fee. If you need to miss a class, that is okay if you make up work and keep up with your writing. Everyone will be given friendly check-ins during week - reminders to get your writing done! IN 2 MONTHS, IF YOU DO YOUR WORK, YOU WILL HAVE A WORKING DRAFT OF YOUR SCREENPLAY COMPLETED. YEAH! GET IT DONE! IT'S ALMOST 2012!

c) Screenwriting 201: Digging Deeper Now that you understand the basics, it's time to dig deeper into character and plot development, dialog and nuance. We will also discuss production viability and how to tailor our screenplays to our budgets. You will receive feedback on your work and -- as a powerful learning tool -- you will also be offering feedback on your colleagues' work. This workshop will also include special events to be determined including: either a Screenplay Reading where you will see a screenplay's words come to life, a trip to a film lab where you will see how post-production affects story, and/or a guest talk by an industry film agent. Book to be announced; if you own it, you may deduct from Materials fee.
